About Dr. Jade Stefano

I am a licensed Naturopathic Physician in Washington State, where I completed my medical training at Bastyr University. I’m also a certified Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Provider (PATP), with over 200 hours of specialized training through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.

My academic background includes a degree in Biology from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, where I developed a deep appreciation for science, nature, and philosophy.

My clinical interests span primary care, cardiovascular health, vector-borne illnesses, cannabis medicine, hormone care, menopause and perimenopause, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), integrative psychiatry, environmental medicine, allergies, pain management, and functional medicine.

I draw from a broad toolkit of modalities, including nutraceuticals, botanical medicine, nutrition, lifestyle counseling, pharmaceuticals, and Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT), tailoring each approach to the unique needs of my patients.

Cannabis has been a decades-long passion of mine. I’ve been involved in medical cannabis as both a patient and caregiver since its early days in Washington State. Its healing potential continues to inspire me, as long-overdue research begins to uncover what traditional healers have known for millennia.

Cooking and food have been a lifelong passion and I enjoy working with clients on achievable and enjoyable dietary modifications to address inflammation, cardiovascular disease and general wellness using mediterranean, traditional and plant based diets. I believe that the interconnectedness between the earth and its inhabitants is key to optimal health and healing. In my free time I enjoy gardening, backyard chickens, our pet axolotls and spending time with my children.

I was drawn to natural medicine after becoming frustrated by the doctor directed, paternalistic approach of conventional medicine, where people are not listened to, their concerns dismissed and where they are often pushed into a rushed cycle of polypharmacy symptom management where they are never truly healed and where the root causes of their conditions are ignored.  I will never forget the day I learned that 40% of conventional medical treatments are not evidence based. This includes some invasive cardiac surgeries and other aggressive treatments.

I also remember the dejected feeling I experienced, prior to becoming a doctor myself, while at a doctor’s appointment, and asking some well informed questions, when the doctor said that I should not listen to “doctor google,”  essentially dismissing my ability to do my own research, and assuming I was looking at dubious information. While there are many excellent doctors who possess a deep knowledge of their specialties and while google is rife with bad information, I believe that people are intelligent, know themselves and encourage clients to be active participants in their wellness and healing.  People should do as much research as possible about their condition, ask questions of the doctors and seek second and third opinions, always for serious conditions or for issues where you feel that the doctor did not address your concerns or discover the root cause of your problem.
